Background:Pharmacological and psychosocial treatments for erectile dysfunction (ED) are becoming increasingly popular, especially among patients with cardiovascular disease. The World Health Organization (WHO) has recognized the role of psychosocial interventions for ED, and their efficacy in improving erectile function has been reported in randomized clinical trials. We investigated the efficacy of sildenafil citrate (Viagra®) in improving erectile function in patients with ED. Methods: A total of 878 men with erectile dysfunction were randomized to treatment with either sildenafil citrate (Viagra®) or placebo. The primary endpoint was erectile function during sexual intercourse (EF) at baseline or during sildenafil treatment. The secondary endpoints included a composite measure of efficacy, quality of life (QoL) domain scores and the International Index of Erectile Function (IIEF-EF) global questionnaire. Results: Among the 878 patients, 71.3% (n = 739) of Viagra® treated patients experienced a successful sexual intercourse in the baseline survey. The IIEF-EF global questionnaire showed significant improvements in EF (EF ≥ 90) for the treatment group vs. baseline (3.9 ± 0.5 vs. 3.1 ± 0.4, respectively;P<.001) (Table ). The IIEF-EF global questionnaire showed improvements in QoL (3.8 ± 0.8 vs. 3.3 ± 0.4, respectively;=.0011) (Table ). The IEF-EF global questionnaire showed significant improvements in the domains of IIEF-EF (3.9 ± 0.5 vs. 3.5 ± 0.6, respectively;=.01), IIEF-QoL (3.4 ± 0.6 vs.=.01) (Table ). Conclusions: These findings suggest that sildenafil treatment can improve erectile function in patients with ED. The efficacy of sildenafil treatment in improving erectile function in patients with ED is promising and it is important to continue its use.

This week, Milwaukee's largest university is about to be hit by an election-year political war.
But with many more than 30,000 students in its 10,000-strong campus, Milwaukee is hoping that a new, much bigger, campus will become the place where students feel the most comfortable, especially given the political turmoil that has taken the lives of some of its most valued employees.
That's because many of the students in Milwaukee's schools have turned to fungus, or Himalayan Viagra, as a source of relief and energy. "You just have to have that natural feeling of having a sense of normalcy," says University of Wisconsin spokesman John Ricks.
But with many of the students already in the schools, it can be hard for them to find an outlet for their energy, Ricks says.
This week, the University of Wisconsin has been fighting with the U. S. Attorney's Office to try to crack down on a proposed lawsuit by an anti-abortion group.
Ricks says the group is looking at the potential of the legal battle. "We're still trying to figure out what the legal battle is and why it needs to be pursued."
The lawsuit is called "The Trump Effect." It is being brought by a group of people who claim that President Trump's executive orders were an infringement of the First Amendment, which prohibits speech or actions on the grounds of religion. A group of people have filed a lawsuit against Trump, saying the order was an infringement on his First Amendment rights.
Ricks says that a lot of the students who were in the school last week will have been given the option to choose whether to join the lawsuit. The University of Wisconsin has asked the school to take a stronger stance on its legal battle. The university, which is based in Milwaukee, said that the school would respond to the lawsuit within a few days.
The university's legal team will meet with the university's chief legal officer today to discuss the matter.
"We want to find out what it's going to be," Ricks says. "The student has to know what it will take to get that to the next level."
To that end, Ricks says the university is waiting for the Supreme Court to decide whether it can go after the university.
The university is in the process of filing a lawsuit against Trump and his administration for a "disparate conduct" that has hurt the university.
"It's a very complicated legal battle. We can't go on like this and make a decision," Ricks says.
Ricks says that Trump's actions hurt the university's reputation, which he says is a big reason that he's been in the school over a year now.
"We are in the midst of a huge election that is going to come and we have to do a lot of different things to get our message out," Ricks says. "You don't have to be an anti-abortionist, but you have to be an anti-American."
The university is also working with the state attorneys general to investigate whether the Trump administration's actions violated the religious freedom of students.
"We're going to start filing lawsuits against that," Ricks says. "We're going to have to do a lot of different things."
A university spokesperson said that the university would not comment on the lawsuit, and that it was not known whether the lawsuit would be brought directly to the school or in a lawsuit that is based on an allegation that the administration is trying to interfere with students' ability to graduate.
The university's chief legal officer said that the university was aware of the litigation, but declined to comment further. The university is also in discussions with the state attorneys general to determine whether to pursue the suit.
Ricks says that he's not concerned about Trump's actions.
Ricks said that the university is not planning to launch legal action against Trump.
"We've already been able to make a deal with the Trump administration and we have an opportunity to make a deal with the school," he says.
"It's not about an executive order that would have any effect on the school or their ability to do the job. We are trying to make a deal and it's going to have to be done with a different set of rules."
The university also is looking at suing the Trump administration, saying that it can pursue it in the future.Ricks says he believes Trump's actions hurt the university, but the university is not being threatened by his actions.
